Walk where Jesus walked

From Nazareth the birth place of Jesus, to Galilee where he began his ministry and made many miracles, and to Jerusalem, where he was crucified and rose again.

Nazareth
greekchurch1_free“The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin... and the virgins name was Mary.. And he came to her and said: Hail, O favored one; the Lord is with you... And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus"
Nazareth is the cradle of Christianity, the city where, according to tradition, the angel Gabriel told Mary that she would conceive by the power of the Holy Spirit, and the place where Jesus spent his childhood and youth
Nazareth, in the lower Galilee, is located in the heart of a valley surrounded by mountains that embrace several of the most important Christian sites in the world. This is a city of religion and faith, of spirituality and holiness
The Basilica of Annunciation
The basilica is one of the world's most holy Christian Liturgical, built on the traditional site of the annunciation by the Angel Gabriel of the birth of Jesus. The central grotto is believed to have been the home of Mary.

A Christian baptism site on the Jordan river.

According to Christian tradition, it was there that Jesus was baptized.
Yardenit is the unique and registered site of baptism for Christian pilgrims, at the place where the Jordan River flows out of the Sea of Galilee and into the Dead Sea.

Yardenit is a crossroad for many pilgrims, one among other holy places around the Sea of Galilee, such as Capernaum, Tabgha and the Mount of Beatitudes.
Every year, over half a million tourists from all over the world visit the site.

The baptismal site is located on the banks of the Jordan River between magnificent eucalyptus trees and the natural river flora. It is an ideal spot for recollection in serenity and tranquility.
Comfortable and adequate facilities are available for religious ceremonies on the banks of the Jordan River.

The visit at Yardenit is unique and the most impressive experience for every guest.

The Coenaculum
The Coenaculum is the traditional place of the "upper room," where the Last Supper was held

Garden of Gethsemane
Visitors to of the Garden of Gethsemane are amazed when they learn that the gnarled olive trees they see could have been young saplings when Jesus came here with the disciples on that fateful night after the Last Supper

Step yourself in the Christian holy sites in the Old City.
Enter at St. Stephen’s Gate, also known as Lion’s Gate, and visit the Pool of Bethesda - site of the miraculous healing of a paralyzed man by Jesus, and the Church of St. Anne, where Christian groups love to sing hymns as they visit.

Take the Via Dolorosa passing the Stations of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the ancient site of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus.

The Via Dolorosa, the road Jesus walked from the place of Pontius Pilate’s sentencing to Golgotha, means “way of sorrows.” The beautiful hymn that begins “On a hill far away...” has led many to picture this last road as a pastoral, quiet scene, a path wending its way, perhaps among old olive trees, up a mountain to where crosses stand starkly against the sky.
For as long as Christians have been coming to the Holy City, they have walked the last path of Jesus. At least for the last 1,000 years, it is the same path visitors walk today. As time went on, the sacred stories became sacred landmarks – the Stations of the Cross.
There are fourteen stations. The first is the Praetorium, where Pilate condemned Jesus and Jesus took up the cross and onward to the last stations the crucifixion and burial, located within the ancient Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Church of the Holy Sepulchre
Nearby is a stone slab where tradition says the body of Jesus was prepared for burial, and where you may see pious Orthodox and Catholic Christians praying fervently. Visitors are moved by the beautiful mosaic behind the stone, which shows with sadness and hope the moments when Jesus is taken down from the cross and laid in the tomb. Up a steep flight of stairs, the site of the crucifixion itself is marked by both a Greek Orthodox and a Catholic altar, where Christians from around the world stand patiently in line waiting to touch the rock they hold sacred

Stay in monasteries
As in many other countries, the doors of monasteries (religious convents) are open to Israeli tourists, Christians, who can not only visit them, but also to sleep.

The monks, known for their asceticism and humility, spend most of their time for study, prayer and spiritual work, but they also earn their living, for example, creativity and agriculture, or rent residential guest rooms. The monks are renowned for their polite manners and hospitality; they create for guests a warm, homely atmosphere.

Many of the Christians who came to Israel in order to stay in the monasteries remain here for a long time. They not only see the sights and visit the holy places for Christians, but also to gather in monasteries for prayer meetings. Pilgrims are attracted to the Christian monastic silence and tranquility, a special unique character and scenic location. For them, visiting the monastery is an important religious and spiritual experience, a special event in life.
